Is it Really Christmas Already?

The horror of Christmas is already upon us. Cliff Richard, Wham, Maria Carey, Slade and the usual collection of joyfully jingly Christmas songs are already blaring from supermarket sound systems. And we haven't even got past Halloween or Bonfire Night yet!

Every year, it feels like the Christmas shopping season gets closer and closer. But somehow that doesn't seem to stop us all from making a panicked last minute purchase on Christmas Eve.

That said, the gift mats are already out in Debenhams, BHS and many other stores where you'll find our gift experience boxes, alongside gadgets, games and all sorts of novelty gift ideas.

So if you like to get all your Christmas shopping done, dusted and well out of the way, the shops are definitely loving you right now.

But if, like most of us, you'd rather put it off 'til the last minute, there's still Halloween and Bonfire Night to look forward too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Halloween seems to be a big party time for adults, rather than hordes of kids going Trick Or Treating. Possibly because it used to end in eggs and flour being thrown?

But for adults, Halloween is an amazing night, whether you're with a group of friends all crazy enough to dress up and head down the pub for the night, go clubbing or even go to see some great Halloween themed entertainment.

Theatre showings of Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera sell out really quickly around this time. Meanwhile our London Ghost Bus Tours and even tickets to the London Dungeons seem to sell like hotcakes around this time too.

As for Bonfire Night, there's nothing quite like wrapping up warm and venturing out into the freezing cold to stand by a roaring fire, while warming your innards with a hot mug o' soup and wowing at the fireworks overhead.

But now that winter is on its way, these celebrations are a good reminder that it's time to start wrapping up for the cold weather to come - and to start saving up for all those Christmas presents we'll have to buy.
