Twickenham – the true home of rugby

As home to the World Rugby Museum, Twickenham is any rugby fan’s idea of heaven, which is why it’s worth considering a Twickenham Stadium Tour gift experience if you’re trying to find the perfect present for a pair of rugby fans.

Even the most die hard fan will learn something about the game, whether it’s clearing up the misconception that the game was invented at Rugby School (as many know, it existed before that in many forms going as far back as ancient Greece, but was formulated and the rules laid down at the school which gives the current sport its name), the different terms for the game used around the world or perhaps just the origins of the difference in attire between the league and union versions of the game.

The museum’s first incarnation was opened in 1972 in response to the question of what to do with the overwhelming amount of memorabilia collected over the years and houses some of the oldest rugby related artefacts. Now housed in the recently redeveloped East Stand, the museum includes over 10,000 objects including early match programmes and tickets as well as more recent video footage and equipment.

A Twickenham Stadium Tour for two includes a visit to the museum where you can see all this and learn the secrets of the game and its history, plus a tour of the stadium itself where you can see all the most important elements of Twickenham including the England dressing room, the players tunnel and an up close look at the pitch where the magic happens.

So if you know a couple who are mad about rugby, then a tour of Twickenham stadium for two is a great gift idea for any occasion, or perhaps you live with a massive rugger fan who would love to take a trip around ‘Twickers’ – you might even enjoy it yourself as you can have a go on the ‘scrum machine’ to test your strength and see if you have what it takes to make it as a professional rugby player. So whatever the occasion, a tour of Twickenham experience is a great gift for any rugby fan.
